COU has been working for more than 40 years to improve the quality and accessibility of higher education in Ontario. Originally known as the Committee of Presidents of the Universities of Ontario (CPUO), the organization was formed in 1962 in response to a need for institutional participation in educational reform and expansion.

Business Situation

The requirement was to design a syste to streamlined process of entering, validating, reviewing, and publishing the financial information of provincially-assisted colleges and universities in Ontario.

Solution

This system was designed to streamline the process of entering, validating, reviewing, and publishing the financial information of provincially-assisted colleges and universities in Ontario.
The registered users of the COFO system will be able to access tools associated with their role (e.g. institutions will have access to data entry and submission tools, while COU will have access to analysis and publishing tools).
The system provides:

  • Role-based access to ensure that users see only the functions and information associated with their duties
  • An easy-to-use interface for entering and reviewing financial information
  • Automated data validation
  • A flexible framework that can be easily changed from year-to-year without custom programming
  • Integrated search (query) and analysis tools
  • Integrated reporting and export functions
  • The ability to easily create and modify reports
  • Activity logging and auditing

The Administration section allows managing the following modules:

  • Organizations/Universities
  • Roles
  • Users (COU Uses and Organization Users)
  • Financial Forms
